DateSpot Client Service Terms

The Client route means you receive our matchmaking service. The Candidate route does not offer any level of proactive search, contacting you, or focusing on you.
- There is no annual or monthly membership fee to be a Client. You may create an account completely free. There is no obligation to be a Client if you create an account.
- To receive our proactive matchmaking service as a Client, you just must book and do a deep-dive video call, which is $299. This fee is the only upfront cost and covers our time in clarifying your search, reviewing your photos, getting to know you, answering any questions you may have. We will then confirm that we have enough potential matches to accept you as a client. The consultation is non-refundable.
- In order to be accepted as a Client, we conduct an initial search to ensure there are at least 10 prospects to pursue that meet your basic filterable criteria (taking into account age, height, ethnicity, location, whether they’re willing to relocate, religion, politics, smoking, drinking, and drugs - and we may also look at other factors at this point). If there are not this many, we will let you know and may suggest other alternatives.
- If we mutually decide to work together, you will receive a Client Handbook with next steps, tips, and resources for your journey, in an email confirmation of your client status.
- Once a client, we will send your sharable profile that we would send to potential matches to you for review, typically within 7 days.
- You may choose to purchase Match Previews, which are a list of 10-15 match leads for us to look into further and explore. The people in the Match Previews are not necessarily single or interested in you. Match Previews are a $399 add-on. Once you say which people on the list you would like to pursue, we will then contact them to make sure that they are a) available, b) a great fit once we collect all the current info, and c) interested in you based on your sharable profile. If you do not do Match Previews, the process will go slower, as we reach out to 1-2 at a time, over time. It is also less confidential as we show your photos to the potential matches before you. If we have more than 20 potentials for you, you can do just one initial round of Match Previews first, and then we can always do subsequent rounds or you can switch to the standard process.
- The fee to meet a match is $699, no matter whether they’re a DateSpot member or client of a partner matchmaker, or whether they are a DateSpot Client or Candidate. By joining as a Client, you agree to pay this price should we find a suitable match and there is mutual interest. If you ever want to opt out, please email carla@datespot.love with the update and downgrade in your account under Member Type.
- You also have the ability to match with non-Clients sent as options from partners. We have three different levels. The first is $300 (of the standard $699 total match fee). While the $300 in commission we can offer them is enough to get some smaller matchmaking companies involved in referrals, and allows for the more rare client-to-client match, it usually does not result in any new leads. $500 moves the needle much more, and is industry standard, so we recommend this amount for most clients. This equates to an $899 total match fee. Our VIP tier is a $1K bonus plus $699 match fee, and gets a large amount of matchmakers working on the case and referring their best people! Let us know what bonus you are willing to give.
- Being a Client allows you to receive match options from anyone within our network and partner networks when there is mutual interest. Your match would pay nothing if they are a DateSpot Candidate, nothing if they are a non-Client referral from a partner, an undisclosed amount based on their package with the matchmaker if they’re a partner’s client.
- There are no guaranteed intros or match options - we will bring you as many people as we see fit, with no quota. The frequency and quantity of Recommended Dates varies per client and is dependent on your unique situation and search parameters. That said, we aim to provide you with at least four Recommended Dates during your timeframe, meaning those people are ready for a date with you.
- We will conduct an initial search for you and pursue the options. During the first month we focus on members in the database with your most targeted and desirable parameters. The second month is expanded parameters based on what you have expressed or what we see as a reasonable next level, still within your strict criteria. The third month is partner outreach. The fourth month is recruiting online on social media (Facebook and LinkedIn generally) in your geographic area. Each stage is completed if you are not in an exclusive relationship or have a paused status. We aim to contact you with a quick update at each stage, though you are welcome to contact us up to a couple times per month. We may search for you at any time during your 4 month proactive membership and may not be searching for you in any given week, given our overall client list.
- Payment is accepted through Zelle (preferred) or credit card. Pricing may change over time, but you will always have the option to pay for the intro fee at the time of a potential match. We never automatically charge you.
- We aim to verify the identity of all prospective dates by an ID verification through Plaid, a video call with them, or having them submit a video clip. We do not do video calls with Candidates by default, in order to keep the service cost as low as possible. We have met all Clients via video. If you prefer, we can request a 15 min. video call or video clip with any Candidate. A 10-15 min. video call is included in the match fee. We include in each Recommended Date whether the person has already been met with. International members (outside the U.S.) may not be vetted due to the time difference, but we can ask for ID verification through Plaid.
- You are eligible to view people’s videos if you have submitted your own. You can also choose to pay $49 to view a video if you don’t want to submit your own.
- We conduct official background checks by request through BeenVerified. A background check is a $99 fee, paid before the check. It is non-refundable. After the results you can make a final decision about whether to meet a Recommended Date or ask any questions to the member about the results. Typically we will ask if you want an official background check, but if we do not, you can request it.
- If a match that we present to you is a partner matchmaker's client, matchmakers generally trust each other and rely on the included photos and account info. This means that most of those clients will NOT be vetted as thoroughly as they may or may not have signed up for DateSpot and answered all the questions.
- Introductions are on a pay-per-match basis, where each intro occurs after your payment. In the U.S., introductions are generally done via text to protect privacy of last names and get the fastest response. Internationally, we can do intros via email or WhatsApp - you can specify a preference.
- Date planning is done by you and the match, which allows you to choose a mutually desirable time and location and easily reach each other in case of last minute changes. Please schedule the date quickly and do not do a phone call or lots of texting back and forth as that can derail things due to different communication expectations and ideas about the planning.
- You can pause your membership for an unlimited amount of time if you become exclusive with someone, or for any reason. Please notify us at carla@datespot.love if you ever want to pause, downgrade to a Candidate, or cancel. Pausing allows you to retrieve your account info and pick up where you left off if you ever want your account again. Deleting can create a deleted status on your account or we can remove all of the data by request.
- We post “Client Spotlights” on our social media platforms about our Clients to share the quality and variety of the amazing clients we work with and grow the business, bringing in more leads for you! To maintain your privacy, we will share your photos or video ONLY when you have given your explicit permission. Otherwise we will do confidential versions. We prefer transparent versions, though, as they work better for you in showing who you are and bringing in actual leads. Let us know your preference please.
- We may share your profile with anyone at any time who may be helpful in the search, including the private matchmaker-specific groups we belong to, and people who are in relationships or could be in relationships but may have single friends. This is a major key to our success and yet another differentiator between us and the way other basic matchmakers operate.
- Information about ANY other members is strictly confidential and not to be shared without DateSpot’s written permission. The exception to this is that if we send you a client profile and ask if you have any single friends, you have permission to share it selectively on a one-on-one basis, never in a public forum.
